What type of game is Hawken?
Hawken is a multiplayer mech combat game. The focus is on creating an intense and enjoyable battle experience that captures the feeling of piloting a heavy war machine while keeping the action fast-paced and strategic.
What game modes are supported?
There will be two unique team game modes, as well as team deathmatch and free-for-all deathmatch.
One of the unique team game modes is supposed to be a siege-type game mode where 2 bases fight in a struggle for resources.
When will it be released?
The official release date is 12/12/12, but there will be a closed beta before that time.
Can I sign up for the beta?
Yes! Just click the Enlist Now link on the right, it will take you directly to the offical Hawken homepage!
Will there be a single player campaign?
There are no plans for a single player campaign mode. Because of our team size and resources we are focusing on a multiplayer experience.
What engine is Hawken using?
Hawken has been developed using the Unreal Engine from Epic Games.
What platform is it for?
Hawken will initially be released on the PC.
How much will it cost?
Hawken will be a downloadable free-to-play title. Yes, you can play for free. There will be in game purchases that will allow greater customization and more weapon variety.
So it will be pay-to-win?
No! Adhesive Games will be following the example of games that successfully use the free-to-play model without unbalancing the game. In Hawken, many things available for purchase will be visual customizations and aesthetics. In most cases, weapon and armor upgrades that can be bought can also be earned through playing the game. More details on that in the future.
